Rain Dance

A shot from the gardens of the Biltmore Estates in Asheville, North Carolina. I wish I could afford to have sculptures like this scattered about my backyard. http://www.flickr.com/photos/jbeanss/

Simon Goinard

We are starting an "implied movement" assignment for my figure drawing class. I stumbled across this piece by artist Simon Goinard. It is so beautiful, I am hoping I can capture something like this for my piece. Here is his website to see more of his work: http://simongoinard.carbonmade.com/

Photography IV Project 1

My favorite shot from my first project in my Photography IV class. We had to photograph white objects on a white background and then black objects on a black background using different types of lighting techniques. This shot is using diffused lighting, it makes it really soft and pleasant. To see more go to my Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jbeanss/

40 Minute Gesture

Finally had a male model today in figure drawing class, hooray! Also luckily I was in the drawing zone today and created this gesture drawing when we did the 40 minute study at the very end of class (after we are nice and warmed up) Pretty pleased with it and I am totally in love with the conte pencil now, I had never used it before.

Alberich M.

Yet another underwater photographer I have fallen in love with. He does most of his photography in some sort of black pool with classically porcelain skin models. When looking at his work I feel like a Renaissance model floated off of her painting into this ephemeral alternate world. Blogspot does not do his work justice (so small!) Check it out for real here: http://alberich.deviantart.com/

Ulric Collette

Photographer and photo-manipulator Ulric Collette has taken the meaning "You look so much alike!" to a whole new level. He photographs brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers separately and then expertly puts two of them together to really show us just how alike these family members can look. Many of them you would swear is just one person that just looks slightly off. Take a look for yourself: http://genetic.ulriccollette.com/ (and check out the rest of his work while you're at it!)
