Alexa Meade

Artist Alexa Meade paints directly on her models/settings to make it look like a painting come to life! The effect is like something I have never seen before! Check out her website here: http://www.alexameade.com/index.html

Caravaggio

Caravaggio - "Concert of Youths (The Musicians)" ca. 1595-96

Caravaggio put himself in the painting. He is the middle figure draped in the beautiful red sash. Is it just me, or was Caravaggio a total babe?

Warm Lighting Portrait

My reference photo for my upcoming warm lighting painting assignment. I love the cool lighting one as well but it's a tad blurry. I can work with it but I won't be showing the photo of it. You will all just have to wait for the painting :]

If Fire Were Water: Artist Unknown

Elena Kalis

Elena Kalis was the very first underwater photographer I found and is the one initially responsible for my current fascination with it. Please go and frolic amongst her works of art! http://www.elenakalisphoto.com/#home

Maru

This is Maru the cat, quite possibly the most adorable cat on the internet (which is a hard competition to win!) If you don't know about him, you need to! Here is his website: http://sisinmaru.blog17.fc2.com/ and youtube: http://www.youtube.com/user/mugumogu

Prepare to have your heart melted and your voice crying "awwww"

New Photos

New photos up on my Flickr account. I finally got around to cleaning off my camera chip from my digi-cam, *whew*: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jbeanss/

Alix Malka

Yet another underwater photographer that I simply adore, not to mention the clothing the model wears during this photo shoot is art in and of itself! See the whole shoot here: http://www.wicked-halo.com/2008/08/subaquatic-beauty.html

Underwater Shoot

Right before the end of summer my sister and I did an underwater photo shoot. Here are my top three favorite shots out of the shoot. If you want to see the whole shoot go to my flickr account here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jbeanss/

Kim Sung Jin

Let's take a moment to appreciate photographic realism. It took me a while of looking at this guy's work to realize they weren't up close, personal photographs but paintings. Focusing on lips in red red lipstick (one of my favorite subjects) Kim Sung Jin's glossy wet style of painting and utter attention to every single detail makes his work quite enjoyable to fawn over. I actually had an assignment very similar to the subject's he chooses. It makes me wish I had found him before I had done mine, what an inspiration! Check him out: http://blue4451.cafe24.com/

Art Ideas

I have so many new art ideas floating around in my head! I can't wait to get painting :] One of the many ideas include a special assignment from my fav prof, Craig Cully (who's work you should also check out http://craigcully.com/) The idea is to paint something beautifully that isn't normally considered beautiful. Have any of you heard of a Gulper Eel? Well here it is.

Pretty frightening, eh? He, himself might not be beautiful but the way I hope to paint it will be beautiful in and of itself. I am going to spend a good bit of time on this, working really hard to get that translucent effect. I am pretty excited to start this one, it's going to be pretty big too (though I haven't decided how big yet.) Well, better go grab some breakfast and go get started :] Tootles for now.

Felice Fawn

New photographer discoverty! Felice Fawn, photographer/retoucher: http://www.felicefawn.com/photographer/

Cuddle Corn Beanies

For anyone interested, my fiance and I are selling custom and pre-made bean bag animals on etsy.com. They are filled with dried corn so you can heat them in the microwave for about a minute and have a cute and warm companion to keep you warm! Please, have a look for yourself here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/CuddleCornBeanies?ref=pr_shop

Audrey Kawasaki

Japanese artist, Audrey Kawasaki is one of my favorite contemporary artists. She works mainly on wood with thin washes of oil paint to produce delicately beautiful works of art. I love the incredibly fine line work she uses throughout her works and the transparent layers of paint just adds to the elegance of each piece she does. Definitely someone I recommend checking out, here is her website: http://www.audrey-kawasaki.com/index.php

Also, I like her so much I tried my hand at her style. I like it alright, I definitely want to try again. The hair came out a little too thick because I was using wood stain mixed with oils. I think next time I won't use the wood stain at all.

Zena Holloway

I recently discovered underwater photographer Zena Holloway and absolutely fell in love with his work. Underwater photography already has an other-worldly feel to it but he takes it to a completely new level. The lighting and the natural elegance of his models makes the viewer feel like they aren't underwater at all, they just appear to be floating around in some ethereal environment. Truly an exquisite photographer, please enjoy the rest of his work here: http://www.zenaholloway.com/indexzena.html

Been a while, eh?

Here is my latest self portrait as an update.
